I started building software because the tools I needed didn’t exist.
I’m Josh, a teacher in Hamilton, Ontario. I build web and mobile apps for classrooms.
How I got here
I’m a teacher, and I build the tools I’d want in any classroom: ClassCents, ClassTrack, FoldNets and, before them, ClassRoll.
That is still how I work. I build things to be used on ordinary days by people who have other things to do, so they have to be quick, clear and hard to break.
Most of what I build now is for other teachers: ClassCents, ClassTrack and FoldNets. The rest, a game, a music maker for kids and some 3D prints, I made to learn something new.

- Demo websitesWorking Next.js sites for made-up small businesses, with the payments, email and data behind them.
- 3D printsFunctional designs for FDM printers: storage systems, toolboxes and accessories, shared on MakerWorld.
What I use
Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Flutter, Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Vercel. A small, familiar set, chosen because each part is well documented and will still be maintained in five years, which matters more than whatever is new this month.
Away from the keyboard
I’m a dad, so most of my free time is spent with my kids and our dog, Cali, often on bikes on Ontario trails. I read a lot, and I tinker, which is how the 3D printing started.
